Gorkha Sabha deputation calls on CM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, NOVEMBER 11 –
A deputation of Gorkha Sabha led by Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla today called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah here and presented him a memorandum of demands. Interacting with the Chief Minister, the deputation putforth their demands which included status of permanent resident ship of the State. The Gorkha Sabha deputation requested the Chief Minister for granting domicile certificate to the community till the issue of their permanent citizenship is settled. “This will enable our youth to get enrolled in Army and other organizations for service”, the deputation elaborated. Advocating their case, Raman Bhalla said that the community deserves sympathetic view of the Government. The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and said that he will get the demands of Gorkha Sabha examined for the consideration of the government. Another deputation led by Bimla Luthra presented demands relating to the women while a deputation led by Chander Mohan Sharma discussed party matters and the deputation of Sikh community led by Janak Singh Sodhi, President, Shormani Akali Dal, Kashmir presented a memorandum of demands which included employment of Sikh youth in government services, bringing Gurdwaras on pilgrimage tourist map in the State and other welfare measures for the community.
