Two HUJI militants surrender in J&K

Jammu, Nov 3 Two militants of Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI) have surrendered before security forces in Doda district.
The two, identified as Ghulam Mohammad and Mohammad Iqbal, surrendered last night before the police and army in the Chatroo area of Doda district of the state, officials said today.

These militants, after getting locally trained, were active in Doda during the past one year, they added.

Eighty-seven militants, the highest in a year, had surrendered in Doda in 1996, officials said, adding the second highest number of surrenders was 34 each in 1998 and 1999.

The total number of militants who surrendered in Doda this year has touched 37, they said, adding that more ultras would surrender soon.
