| Gear up sanitation drive, DCM directs municipal authorities, local bodies | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, November 12- Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has directed both Commissioners of Srinagar and Jammu municipalities to launch special sanitation drive in the cities on the eve of Eid, particularly around respective Eidgahs, Jamia mosques and other local mosques where people offer prayers on the eve of Eid.
Both commissioners were directed to install special lighting systems at respective places. He directed for ensuring functioning of defunct lights wherever required. He also directed Local Bodies of different towns to launch similar drive so that people get basic sanitation and lighting facility at the places of congregation.
Deputy Chief Minister had taken a note of some reports that various unscrupulous elements have taken undue benefit of turmoil and resorted to unchecked adulteration in essential food items. He directed health officers stationed in concerned municipalities and local bodies to take immediate action against food adulteration.
He said that these Health Officers and concerned food inspectors should spread to all markets, hotels, restaurants and take samples of the food items where complains have been received from public regarding quality. The Health Officers along with all teams should ensure that the standard needs are being supplied to the people which are properly cleared by concerned Health Officers and staff. He advised concerned officers that it is their responsibility to ensure supply of quality food items.
