Upper Age Limit for KAS Challenged | Allow petitioner to take examination: HC | | EARLY TIME REPORT JAMMU, November-12 (JNF):- A petition challenging fixation of upper age limit in terms of SRO 167 dated April 19, 2010 came up for hearing in the Jammu bench of state high court today. According to the petitioner unjust and arbitrary, as the UPSC has given 10 years age relaxation in respect of candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J&K. Advocate Aseem Sawhney appearing for the petitioner further submitted that age provided in terms of the SRO is relevant only for conduct of examinations in the year 2010 and further submitted the application of for making selection/ appointment to the time scale of KAS preliminary examination has been rejected arbitrarily. Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar issued notice to State of J&K through Chief Secretary, Commissioner/ Secretary GAD, Chairman J&K PSC and Secretary Public Service Commission and ordered that subject to objections and till next date, order of rejection of candidature of petitioner Pervaz Ahmed for taking combined competitive examination (Time Scale KAS) is kept in abeyance and further directed respondents will permit the petitioner to take the examination scheduled from November 14, 2010. Court further ordered that the result of petitioner shall be kept in a sealed cover. Court made clear that this interim direction will not confer any benefit of the petitioner and he will not claim any equity on the basis of this order. JNF JNF/NOVEMBER/12/2010/1
