Demonstrations over RSS remarks against Sonia

Jammu , Nov 12 Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee today held a protest demonstration against the objectionable remarks by RSS regarding Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Senior leaders of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) accompanied by hundreds of Congress workers held a strong protest over the ‘vulgarity’ and ‘indecency of RSS’ against the Congress leadership and raised slogans against RSS and its leader K. S. Sudershan who had issued highly condemnable statement yesterday against Sonia Gandhi.

Carrying flags, the Congress leaders and activists raised slogans in favour of Sonia Gandhi besides denouncing indecency, and communalism being spread by RSS in the country. The leaders of PCC, DCC and Frontal organizations like Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, INTUC, NSUI and Legal Cell participated in large numbers. The activists of Frontal organizations carried the effigy of Sudershan also.
The senior leaders of the party in their brief address to the gathering while denouncing communalism being spread by RSS, said that such policies and programmes are a threat to communal harmony and religious brotherhood which is the strength of the nation.
The Congress leaders said that these outbursts of RSS leaders reflects their intolerance to the legal system and the constitution of the country. The law should take its own course in every matter, which is fundamental in our democratic system. Whosoever is found involved in any kind of criminal or terrorist activity should be dealt according to the law of the land.
Senior leaders who participated in the demonstration included S/Shri Dharam Pal Sharma, Amrit Malhotra-MLC (Senior Vice Presidents); Thakur Hari Singh, Yash Pal Khajuria, S. Gurmukh Singh (Vice Presidents); Raman Bhalla-Minister for Revenue; General Secretaries Ravinder Sharma (MLC) Spokesperson, S. Amolak Singh, Smt. Kanta Bhan, Shah Mohammad Choudhary; Smt. Indu Pawar-MLA & President Mahila Congress; Kuldeep Raj Verma-Vice Chairman OBC Board; M.S. Naiz-MLA; Om Chopra-President DCC Jammu (U), Th. Shiv Dev Singh, (Ex-MLAs); Lal Mohammad Sabir-Ex-Minister; Shiv Kumar Sharma-President INTUC; K.K.Pangotra; Ab. Rashid Choudhary-President NSUI; Manmohan Singh, S.S.Shangari, Smt. Rajni Bala, Pawan Singh & Dr. Karan Bhagat.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress also held a protest against the remarks of former RSS chief, KS Sudarshan, at Residency Road Friday.
Addressing the protesting activists and the people having assembled over there, R S Pathania senior vice-president, JK PYC while attributing the remarks of Sudarshan as indecent, unhealthy, unprovoked and uncalled for and decried and dismissed the same in strongest words.
He said that the statement is manifestation of the meek and sick mentality of Sangh Parivar and propensity of anti-national forces who are scared by the rising popularity and political stature of Congress President, Sonia Gandhi.
“It is highly critical that people having such mischievous mentality have been the national heads of an organization which is the super-team of BJP,” said Pathania seeking an unconditional apology from Sudarshan while appealing the Youth Congress cadres to keep cool and restraint while protesting against the said remarks. Prominent among others who were present in protest at Jammu included Pankaj Chibber, Manjit Singh Jatt, Sonu Dogra, Kapil Chib, Shivang Satya Gupta, Vikram Bhandari, Rajvir Manhas, Amit Manhas, Ravi Kumar, Varinder Singh, Vivek Gupta, Aditya Badyal, S.S. Jamwal, Amit Gandotra, and other Youth Congress leaders.
Similar protests were witnessed in other districts of Jammu province and effigies were also torched and rallies were taken out. The protest at Udhampur was led by Sumeet Magotra and Rakesh Chander Sharma, Asif Gatu and Rashid Latif at Doda Amit Sharma and Bhanu Partap Singh at Reasi, Arun Raju, Zahid and Aliyas at Ramban, Ajay Taloor and Sandeep Singh at Samba, Ajatshatru Sharma and Paramjit Singh at Kathua, Ravi Kumar, Sheikh Nasir and Suman Thakur at Kishtwar, Imtiaz Ahmed Rajouri and Abhinav Sharma at Poonch.
