Conduct Panchayat elections on party bases: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 13: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today asked the State Government to conduct Panchayat elections on party basis in free and fair manner. Addressing a meeting of party leaders from Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts convened in connection with the Panchayat elections, PDP leaders asked the State Government to remove discrepancies from the electoral rolls of Panchayats as voters lists were full of discrepancies. Citing apprehension about sincerity of the government in conducting Panchayat elections, PDP leaders said that elections, if held, would be conducted in free and fair manner. PDP leaders said that National Conference was notorious for sabotaging democratic institution so party has apprehension that ruling party would adopt foul means to capture the Panchayat elections. Rejecting proposal of the government to conduct Panchayat elections on non party basis, PDP leaders said that there was no reason to conduct these elections on non party basis. Panchyat elections should be held on party basis. Thakur Balbir Singh, General Secretary, Syed Asgar Ali, MLC, Fallail Singh, State Secretary, Sheikh Mujib, District President Doda, Raiz Ahmed Zargar, Senior Vice President Doda, Attaullaha Khan, Senior Leader, Imtiyaz Khanday, Senior Leader Banihal, Parveen akhter, District President Mahilla Wing Doda and Advocate Imtiyaz Ahmed, Senior Leader and Zonal President Banihal addressed the meeting.
