| Hiranagar College celebrates Education Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Nov 13: Government G L Dogra Memorial Degree College Hiranagar celebrated National Education Day by holding a declamation competition amidst presentation of cultural programme by the students.
Member Legislative Council Hiranagar was chief guest while Prof (Dr) A K Malhotra was guest of honour. In the declamation competition, six students participated. While Shikha Bharti bagged first place, second place went to Neha Verma and Monika adjudged third by the penal comprised of Dr Deepshikha Sharma and Prof. Kamaljeet.
In his address, Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr) Nater Singh Raina said that the focused interventions have ensured that the gender gap in enrollment at elementary level has been reduced significantly. He further said that Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad was a freedom fighter, Islamic scholar, secularist and institution –builder needs no introduction to this audience.
Prof Malhotra also spoke and said that education is essential for all. Subash Gupta was among other speakers.
