Maharashtra boys, Girls win kabaddi titles | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, November 13: Beating Chattisgarh in a close final, Maharashtra clinched the boys title in the 22nd Sub-Junior National Kabaddi Championship played at MA Stadium, here today. In this well contested title clash the heavy weight Maharashtra could make it a win by a margin of just five points. Third place in boys section went to Manipur. The girls’ championship trophy went to formidable Delhi after they registered a narrow four points’ win over Maharashtra in the final this afternoon. Haryana girls bagged third position beating their opponent comfortably in the hardliner in the morning session. Earlier, J&K could not move further from quarterfinals stages and went down fighting Gujarat. It is pertinent to mention here that J&K girls could not qualify the pool and lost both of their league matches. In the final and valedictory function, Governor J&K, N N Vohra was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. He also witnessed both girls and boys finals by staying at the stadium altogether for two hours. Minister for Sports, R S Chib presided over the closing function. A host of prominent citizens and officials of State Sports Council attended the valedictory function.
