Akhoon for stocking foodgrains in remote areas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 13- To ensure smooth stocking and supply of food grains to the people of Jammu Division, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon today inspected various government stores at Jammu. These included Center store, Bikram Chowk, new store ware house and food godown Chatha. The Minister was apprised that buffer stocks of food grains are available to cater the need of rationees. He was informed that 12,973 quintals of wheat, 34,142 quintal rice and 6162 quintals of sugar are available in the stock. About 80 per cent of quota for the month of November has been dispatched to various destinations of the division so far, the Minister was told. During the inspection, Akhoon impressed upon the officers of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and CA&PD to supply quality food grains to the rationees, adding that there should be no compromise on the quality of essentials. The Minister also inspected the newly constructed office building of Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Jammu at Transport Nagar, Narwal. He directed for early completion of finishing work so that the office may shift to new building. The Minister was accompanied by the senior officers of CA&PD and Transport departments.
