The separatist amalgam led by Geelani has called for one day shut down in Kashmir against the Government decision. Announcing the decision while addressing a press conference here at the Raj Bagh headquarters of his faction of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani displayed document before the media persons which shows that 210277.17 Kanalas have been illegally occupied by security forces all over the valley. Giving a break up of the land area illegally occupied by different security agencies in valley, Geelani said that 200605.19 kanals are in the possession of Rashtriya Rifles, while as BSF, CRPF and ITBP are occupying 8481.8, 674.14 and 515.16 kanalas of land respewctively. Expressing his deep concern over the State Government's decision on grant of state land to non locals on lease in valley, Geelani said the conspiracy to evict Kashmir is rooted in this controversial decision of the State Government. Slaming National Conference founder late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah for getting the land grants bill passed during his tenure in state assembly, Geelani said "Though I being an MLA opposed the bill and walked out from the house in protest, but rulers of the day did what they had to do to bleak the future of gullible kashmiris". Stating that Alamgiri Bazar is being now named "Bihari Chowk", Geelani threatened to kick start a massive public campaign against State Government's continuing tirade on leasing out the state land to non locals, if the process is continued unabatedly. Calling upon the people to join the campaign, Geelani said Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is misleading international community in New York by comparing him with Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Chief of Jamat-e-Islami in Pakistan, as if situation is normal in Kashmir. Geelani also said that Mufti can claim to be the agent of New Delhi, but not the genuine representative of Kashmiris.
