| Drunk trucker beats up RTO office staff, held | | |

JAMMU, Nov 13: An inebriated truck driver today beat up RTO office staff, including an Inspector, at Kunjwani here today.Inspector Paramvir Singh and other RTO office staffers had set up a checking point at Gangyal. When they signalled a trucker to stop for checking, he sped away.Inspector Paramvir and others chased him in their vehicle and intercepted the truck (JK02AM/2043) at Kunjwani, police sources said. After heated exchanges between the two sides, driver Romesh Singh beat up the Inspector and his juniors.The driver, who was alleged to be drunk, was later arrested by Gangyal police on the complaint of the Inspector and booked under relevant sections of law. The truck, which was loaded with apples, was also seized. Sources said the truck was on its way to Hyderabad from Srinagar. |
