| Army organises Youth Mela | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 14: A Youth Mela was organised by ‘Forever in Operations’ Division in Batalik sector of Kargil district with an aim to broaden the awareness of local youth and children and to inculcate the nationalistic ethos in the young generation regarding various development activities and facilities extended to them by army under “Operation Sadbhavana”.
Senior officers from the army and civil administration attended the mela. The mela also strived to bring out the best in everyone as well as to channelise the energy of local youth in the right direction.
The “Youth Mela” included a painting competition, cultural programme, sports events like jalebi race, sack race, ring game, beer bottle fishing, air gun & air pistol shooting. It also provided an opportunity for the local youth to interact directly with the army. The problems of villagers/ students were heard by the senior army officers to guide and help them resolving the same. In addition, school children and youth from the nearby villages actively participated in the cultural pgme which showcased the local customs & traditions.
