JWAM demands traffic signal lights, constabulary staff | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 14: A delegation of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today called on the DIG Traffic Jammu, Kamal Saini and expressed its resentment over deteriorating traffic scenario in the winter capital Jammu city. Led by president JWAM, Sunil Dimple the delegation held half-an-hour meeting with DIG Traffic and demanded for the immediate installation of traffic signal lights and more traffic constabulary staff in the winter capital Jammu city to operate “chaotic traffic” of the city. Dimple said the department has been facing acute shortage of traffic constables in the department and no traffic staff is seen on the most of the roads of the city, particularly in the localities of Jammu West constituency, New Plot, Janipur, Rehari chungi, Sarwal, Tallab Tillo, Top Sherkhania, Shiv Nagar, Subash Nagar, Roopnagar and Bantalab to regulate the traffic. He also demanded for starting metro-train in the Jammu district to adjoining towns including Akhnoor, Samba, Kathua, R S Pura, start of CNG buses, matadors, autos to avoid the pollution in the Jammu city, strict ban on overloading and use of pressure horn. He said it has become difficult for the people to walk and drive the vehicles in the Jammu city. Besides he also expressed serious concern over the increasing accidents in the far flung rural areas of Doda, Kishtwar, Bhadrwah, Poonch and Rajouri due to dilapidated condition of roads, over loading and due to shortage of traffic cops and poor road connectivity.The press statement claimed that the police officer gave patient hearing to the demands put forward by the delegation and assured that all possible steps would be taken by the traffic department to streamline the traffic in the city.
