Cong stages protest against RSS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 14: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today staged a strong protest demonstration against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for K S Sudarshan’s anti-Sonia Gandhi remarks. Mahila Congress workers and Congress Seva Dal activists held separate protests in different parts of the city. Led by State Mahila Congress president and MLA Indu Pawar, hundreds women activists of the party assembled at Bikram Chowk and shouted slogans against former RSS chief Sudarshan for dubbing Sonia Gandhi an agent of the CIA and accusing the latter of plotting the assassination of her family members. They lashed out at Sudarshan for his derogatory remarks against All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi. The protesting Congress activists also torched an effigy of Sudarshan. Lashing out at RSS leader, an agitated worker said, “RSS leader appears to have lost his mental balance and needs to be admitted to a mental hospital.” The Mahila Congress leaders and workers expressed their full faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and said that no force on earth can harm their leader who is leading the party in right direction and successful manner. Later, the Congress workers took out a protest march which culminated at Shaheedi Chowk near JKPCC office where State party chief and former Union Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz addressed the Mahila Congress workers. Soz termed Sudarshan’s statement as deplorable and strongly condemned it adding that it was another attempt to create communal atmosphere in the country. He advised RSS leaders to be in their limits and should not indulge in such cheap and dirty politics. Senior Congress leaders including Dharam Pal Sharma, Hari Singh, Yash Paul Khajuria and Amolak Singh also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile, District Congress Seva Dal Jammu Urban also burnt the effigies of former RSS chief in various parts of Jammu under the leadership of Balwinder Singh Sambyal state Chief Organizer J&K and Vipan Nischal District Chief Organizer Jammu Urban condemned the ‘venom spitting’ statement of Sudarshan.
