Various political, social organizations celebrate Children’s day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 14: As part of the celebrations of 121st birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, a series of programmes were organised across Jammu region. The occasion observed as Children’s Day throughout the country was celebrated in various parts of Jammu province with zeal and enthusiasm. The Kathua unit of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India organized a series of awareness programmes in general and special programmes in particular in the peripheries of Samba district including Sujwan, Supwal, Kalibari, Rahian and Samba district headquarters itself. These programmes were aimed at to create awareness among the rural masses regarding the implementation of the Central Government sponsored schemes in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. To mark the observance of the Children’s Day, a seminar was organized by the DFP unit Kathua in Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Samba the other day. The topic of the seminar was “Education for all Children, a broad vision of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru”. Seven participants of the host school participated in the debate and expressed in brief their views regarding the importance of Education of each and every child in general and girl child in particular across the length and breadth of the country. Principal of the host school Pawan Kumar presided over the function while as Gulshan Raina, Publicity Officer was the chief Guest. Meanwhile in order of Merit Kokil Mahajan, Shivangi Chambyal and Meena Kumari were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and were honored with Merit Certificates and other prizes by Shri Raina. Earlier an Inter school Quiz competition was also organized at Parveen Model High School, Supwal in the district. The theme of the contest was “Pre & Post Independence Era with special emphasis on current events and sports” which is aimed at making the rural youth aware about the Freedom movement of the Nation. New Modern High School, Supwal also participated in the contest. Whereas in order of merit the team of Riya Kundal and Aditi Sharma of New Modern High School bagged first prize while the team of Gurdeep Singh, Shubam Singh, Daljeet Kour and Arun Sharma of the host school bagged 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. Whereas theme based film shows were also organized at Government High School, Sujwan, New Model High School, Rehian and Bal Shiksha Hr. Sec. School, Kalibari. The aim of these film shows were to educate and aware the rural youth about the need of the hour through the best medium of communication i. e. Audio Visual Medium. Youth Congress celebrates children’s day at Kishtwar. Youth Congress Kishtwar under the leaderrship of Sheikh Nasir Hussain celebrated Children’s Day at Ashiana Orphanage Hostel Kishtwar. On this occasion besides sweets gifts were also distributed among the orphan students of the hostel. The children present in the function were made aware about the life and contributions of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. While speaking on the occasion Sheikh Nasir said that Jawahar Lal Nehru was a great leader of India, freedom fighter and first Prime minister of India. In his able leadership, India started developing after getting freedom from British rule. To commemorate Children’s Day, IKONS Gandhi Nagar organized a cultural programme here today with great zeal and enthusiasm. The function was chaired by Gurjeet Singh chairman, IKONS while Narinder Kour Managing Director, IKONS presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Gurjeet Singh extended his heartfelt greetings to all the students on Children’s Day. He highlighted the contribution of first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru in laying a strong secular foundation of Independent India. Narinder Kour described Nehru a great visionary leader and urged the students to inculcate in them the qualities of love and politeness. District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua celebrated the day at Ranjeet Resort Kathua. The function was organized under the chairmanship of Member Legislative Council (MLC) and district president Subash Gupta. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta urged the participants to follow Nehru’s foot prints. He said that Jawahar Lal Nehru concentrated on the upliftment of rural people. The Congress activists distributed sweets among the children and other participants. A Legal Clinic on Children’s Day for children belonging to Marginalized sections of the society was organized in the District Court Complex Ramban under the chairmanship of Bala Jyoti Principal District and Sessions Judge Ramban wherein Shabir Ahmed Dy. Commissioner Ramban was the guest of honour and Superintendent of Police Mubassir Latifi who is an active member of District Legal Services Authority was also present. Large number of children from various sections of the society from Gool Sangaldhan Dharam, from slum areas of Kow Bagh, Ramsoo and remote corners of District Ramban participated. Bar President AR Mushtaq Ramban welcomed the guests and District Social Welfare Officer Bhandey and members of local NGOs namely ‘Chenab’ were also present on the occasion. Children including guests spoke on the occasion and interacted with each other. Various topics including right to compulsory education, right against exploitation, right against abuse of the tender age of the children, child labour act, Juvenile Act and right of illegitimate children were discussed. Little Angels School Vijaypur celebrated Children’s Day in the school premises. The programme started with flag hoisting by Jatinder Sambyal SHO Vijaypur followed by March Past and PT . Tiny Tots presented a colourful programme with the collaboration of their respective teachers. They displayed divergent items like Dance, Mono acting, Skits and patriotic songs depicting composite culture of various states. Vote of thanks was presented by Rajan Gupta, Principal of the school. He highlighted various achievements of the school and enlightened the audience about the pragmatic vision of the staff, which enables the institute to grow from strength to strength. Eventually sweets and biscuits were distributed among the students.
