| MIER College of Education celebrates National Education Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 15: MIER College of Education organized an Essay Writing Competition on the topic ‘Education: An Instrument of Social Change’ to celebrate National Education Day.
The students of M Ed, B Ed and B Ed Special Education (MR) participated in the contest. The contest was aimed at making the youth realize the significance of education to bring about a positive change in the society.
The judges for the competition were Dr. D. R. Kapoor (HOD Research Wing) and Mrs. Angela Gadroo (QAO -MIER) and Dr. Ira Bhan (Senior Lecturer, P.G.Dept.). The first, second and third prizes were bagged by Mr. Pankaj Pargotra, Ms. Shivani Abrol and Ms.Radhika Katoch respectively.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER felicitated the prize winners and distributed certificates among them. She lauded the efforts of the co-curricular activities unit of the college for organizing such an intellectually stimulating activity. She furthermore emphasized the need to utilize education to revolutionize the society.
Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER also congratulated the prize winners and said that the institute is committed to spread the professional and meaningful education by providing quality teachers to the society. He further impressed upon the role of teacher trainees as instruments of enlightenment and transformation in the society.
