| ASCOMS women’s retain trophy, PG bags men’s title | | Inter-college table tennis competitions of JU | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, November 15: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of University of Jammu (JU) emerged as new men’s champion while Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) women retained the title in the annual inter-college table tennis competitions held at Gymnasium Hall of JU, here today.
In the men’s final, PG defeated the defending champions, ASCOMS 3-1. The Results: Sandeep bt Ankit 11-5, 11-5, 11-7; Tavish lost to Rohan Sood 11-5, 7-11, 6-11, 5-11; Udhay bt Arshdeep 11-8, 11-2, 11-7; Sandeep bt Rohan Sood 11-9, 11-7, 11-7.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, PG beat Government SPMR College of Commerce 3-1. The Results: Sandeep bt Kashish 5-11, 11-7, 12-10; Udhay lost to Tushar 8-11, 6-11; Vikram bt Manpreet 11-6, 13-11; Sandeep bt Tushar 11-8, 11-7.
In other semi-final of the day, ASCOMS registered a 3-1 win over Government Degree College Poonch. The Results: Rohan Sood bt Wajid Khan 13-11, 17-15; Ankit bt Manjot Singh 11-02, 11-05; Arshdeep lost to Alyas Ahmed 6-11, 10-12; Rohan Sood bt Manjot 11-03, 7-11, 11-06.
Meanwhile, in women’s final, sailing on super performance from former state champion, Chandpreet, ASCOMS defended the title defeating Women College Udhampur 3-1. The Results: Chandpreet bt Monika 11-07, 11-02; Shagun bt Sakshi 11-05, 11-04; Gurpreet lost to Meshally 3-11, 2-11; Chandpreet bt Sakshi Sharma 11-4, 11-3.
Today’s finals were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Vikrant Singh under the guidance of Ramesh Magotra.
The finals besides others were witnessed by officials of Department of Sports and Physical Education, JU.
