Court awards life-imprisonment to killer husband | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SAMBA, Nov 15 (JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Samba Suresh Kumar Sharma today awarded life-imprisonment to one Subash Chander of Tehsil Swankha in District Samba who was facing trial for committing murder of his wife. According to police case, accused was a driver of vehicle which used to carry milk to Jammu from Swankha. He had allegedly developed illegitimate relations with a Gujjar Girl. He wanted to marry her but found his wife, deceased Kamli Devi, hurdle. She had been resisting illegitimate relations of the accused with the Gujjar girl. Accused had for quite sometime allegedly been contriving to eliminate the deceased. On December 17, 2006; accused killed her wife by strangulating her with dupatta. Accused during the investigation made a disclosure statement and police after completion of the investigation presented challan in the court of law. Principal Sessions Judge Samba Suresh Kumar Sharma after hearing Public Prosecutor Sukhdev Singh for the state along with Adv Subash Bhatia for the accused observed that after having killed his wife by strangulating in a premeditated manner, accused has committed heinous offence stealthily, in a brutal and diabolic manner. However, court adjudicated that life-imprisonment would be appropriate and in the interest of justice
