Interlocutors creating only confusion: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 15: BJP State spokesperson, Dr. Nirmal Kamal said that interlocutors appointed by the Central Government to find ways to establish peace and normalcy in the State of J&K have still not mended their ways and are continuing to create confusion with regard to their role in the state. On the second visit to the Kashmir after the important assignment given to them, a team of interlocutors have still been harping on the same tune which met sharp criticism from many organizations and political parties. Keeping in mind the futility of the exercise, non-seriousness and unbridled mandate given to them, BJP had expressed not to meet this team. Radha Kumar, a sociologist from Jamia Milia, New Delhi, as Interlocutor, does not hesitate by saying that "our interlocution is centered around the political resolution to the Kashmir. We would be able to come up with a roadmap or a framework to resolve the Kashmir dispute". BJP leader said that the most objectionable part was that these interlocutors have given mandate to themselves more than required and their appointment was made as part of response to one of the eight points reached after the all party delegation's visit to the State. He said that more serious was the statement by Radha Kumar that "we also were very close to a framework for a political settlement. We would like to resume a dialogue from a point it was left off". This version would not have come from an interlocutor unless a brief is given by the Home Ministry or the PMO. This is a very serious version requiring clarification from the Central Government as almost two weeks ago while speaking to Zee TV, Home Minister P. Chidambram had confessed that everything was going well till 10 June when things started deteriorating in Kashmir and also that Pakistan's External Affairs Minister Qureshi had also admitted that the two countries were closer to a solution but suddenly things changed. It appearsed that something was cooked up with regard to J&K State but was not made public. In the light of this, it is significant that the Central Government should clarify the stance and fix the limit of the mandate given to the interlocutors to avoid any kind of further confusion as the people of this trouble torn State are more perplexed over the confused utterances being made by the interlocutors. BJP warned these interlocutors not to cross the limits and concentrate on the task assigned to them. The Union government should also make public the parameters under which they have been deputed.
