JMC’s drive against anti-adulteration continues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 15: Ahead of Eid-Ul-Zuha, a team of Food Inspectors under instructions from Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, S.C. Sawhney continued its drive to check the quality of food items being sold in the city. During the inspection, 19 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000. All the shopkeepers, food establishments / vendors were asked to ensure supply of hygienic, pure and fresh products under proper hygienic conditions to the general public failing which strict action shall under the Provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000 shall be taken against them. Besides this, the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff also conducted drive in view of forth coming Eid – Ul – Azha festival against the adulteration of milk and visited the areas of Sarwal, Rehari Colony, Subash Nagar, Toph, Muthi, Roop Nagar etc. During the drive, 59 milkcans were checked out of which 2 milk cans which were of sub-standard quality / not fit for human consumption were destroyed and a fine of Rs. 1800.00 were also realized from the erring milk vendor on spot. Further continuing the drive to check the menace of stray animals, the team had also visited the areas of Amphalla, Rehari, New Plot, Janipur, Bakshi Nagar, Roop Nagar, Paloura, Talab Tillo, Bahu Fort, Narwal, Channi Himat, Trikuta Nagar, Nai Basti, Gandhi Nagar etc and lifted 10 no’s of stray animals from these areas. The stray animals were impounded in the Municipal Cattle Pound and an amount of Rs. 2700.00 was also realized as fine from the owners of stray animals.
