Painting Competition on the theme 'Save Water Every Drop Counts' held

Jammu, Nov 15: State Level Painting Competition with the theme 'Save Water Every Drop Counts' was organized at Brigadier Rajinder Singh auditorium where 50 paintings from about 7000 paintings that were received from different schools of the state of J&K were selected and the same students has participated in this State Level Competition. Participants from Kargil schools also participated in the competition.
The Painting competition was organized by the Ministry of water Resources (Mo WR) in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power for the students of 4th 5th & 6th standards at the school, State level. The painting competition invites children to paint a world of their own The main objective of organizing the Painting competition is to propagate the themes of water conservation through young school going children who may face acute shortage of water in the years to come when they will be holding important positions in different sector of our society and discover the magic of conserving water.
The Jury of 5 including the Regional Director, NWHR selected the Prize winning paintings for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 10 consolation prizes. After that a function was organized in the Auditorium which was honoured by the Dr. S. C. Dhiman, Chairman CGWB and Naseema Lankar, Commissioner cum Secretary, School Education, J&K Govt. While addressing the audience the guests congratulated all the participants and the blooming buds of the nation on the occasion of Children's Day all along with the parents and guardians. The cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 8000 and Rs. 5000/- were given away to the 1 st, 2nd and 3rd winners. Also the cash prizes of Rs. 1000 each were distributed to the next 10 painters as consolation prizes.
In the concluding ceremony Abhijit Ray, Regional Director, CGWB, NWHR, conveyed the Vote of Thanks to the Chief Guests, Principals and teachers, students and their parents, and the humble audience present in the function and for patient wittenessing the events.
