Wanted in several killings in J&K, Pak ultra Inquilabi held in Delhi | The prize catch is HM divisional commander. J&K police reach union capital to join Delhi police in his interrogation. | | BHARAT BHUSHAN EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 15: The Delhi police special cell, an elite anti-terror wing, made an extremely important arrest Sunday night when Abdullah Inquilabi -- a Pak national and Hizbul Mujahideen's commander for Jammu division -- landed in their dragnet after a brief shoot-out. Wanted in the killings of innocent civilians and police personnel in Rajouri, Reasi and Shopian districts here, he was evading arrest for the past one decade.The Delhi police were trying to find out if he had come to the union capital in search for a hideout, or had some other hidden motives.He had developed a vast network of contacts in Rajouri, Shopian (Kashmir) and New Delhi during his long stay in India, police sources said. Mohammad Abdullah Chechi alias Aurengzeb alias HM alias Abdullah Inqalabi, son of Habib Chichi, hails from Tan Bhaat in Shahdra district of Muzaffrabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). While operating in Rajouri, he developed intimacy with Shahniaz alias Shahda, daughter of Bashir Chichi Bakkarwal of Kandi, Rajouri, and married her in 2008. The couple has two minor children.Sources said Shahda was at present putting up at Kandi with her parents. Inquilabi was caught by the special cell last night from Deer Park near the premier Indian Institute of Technology soon after he alighted from a bus.When the sleuths tried to catch him, he escaped and went inside the nearby Deer Park. In a bid to escape, he also fired few shots, but the sleuths caught hold of him after a brief shoot-out, the sources added. IGP (Jammu region) Ashok Gupta said Inquilabi had most probably gone to New Delhi by road.Asked if he had stayed in Jammu too on his way to the union capital, he said all these details were still not available with them."His arrest is a big catch," the IGP added, saying he was also involved in the mobilisation of HM cadres. A Delhi police officer told this scribe on phone that during interrogation, Inquilabi told the special cell sleuths that he had come to the national capital to find out a hideout as J&K police were desperately searching for him. "We are ascertaining his version," he added. Inquilabi was involved in several HM operations in the country and collection of funds for the terror outfit, he added.The HM commander, who was in Delhi for the past about five days, had stayed in two-three localities where his acquaintances provided him shelter.The officer said police were also looking for his contacts in New Delhi.He said the Delhi Police had last year apprehended 20 militants, including three from Lashker-e-Taiba and HM.IGP Gupta said Inquilabi was apprehended in the union capital in a well co-ordinated operation by Delhi police in which central intelligence agencies also played a vital role. He said the militant commander had let loose a reign of terror in Budhal, Dharamshal, Kalakot, Shopian, Mahore and Gulabgarh areas.On May 14, 2005, he killed Dharam Chand and his three sons -- Swaran Singh, Sumair Singh and Chain Singh -- at Bhai nullah in Triyath area of Reasi. The motive was to trigger migration of minorities from the area to for their safe movement, the IGP said.On June 16, 2005, he and his associates killed SPOs -- Juma, Shafi and Shabir -- at Draman in Budhal, Rajouri. He and associates killed Imam Din's sons -- Aslam Din, Mohammad Ashiq and Mohammad Yaseen -- at Peda, Triyath in 2005, suspecting them to be security forces' informers.In 2006, he killed SPO Wali Mohammad and seriously wounded his wife at Dharamshal for working with police.On March 19, 2006, he kidnapped Naseeb Singh, son of Prithvi Singh of Nalura, from his residence and later shot him dead at Kalidhar. On November 21, 2007, he abducted Mohammad Yusuf, son of Chidya of BC Kalakot, and killed him at Lalukhetar, suspecting him to be a police informer. On January 13, 2009, he was trapped in an encounter near Pingagala at Tryath but had managed to escape. In this gunbattle, his two associates -- Abu Talha and Abu Ishaaq -- were killed. Two Rajouri police jawans -- cop Mushtaq Hussain and SPO Nissar Hussain -- had also laid down their lives. On November 18, 2009, he killed BSF jawan Mohammad Arif and his wife Malika at Jainand in Kandi. The IGP said Inquilabi was initially HMPPR chief, but after his outfit was completely wiped out, he had joined HM as its commander for Jammu province.He said in 2008, he had murdered his close associate Dujana, a PoK militant, in Shopian area for his alleged illicit relations with his wife. On May 3, 2010, he abducted Mushtaq Ahmed Doie, son of Jamal Din of Tangmarg, from Khrew Nadi Behak and gave him a sound beating. Mushtaq was later released. On October 12 this year, a cash of Rs 4,40,000 was recovered from a HM sympathiser in DH Pora area.The IGP said the cash was given to the HM man by Inquilabi to carry it to other HM militants in the area.He said a Jammu police team had been sent to the union capital to join the Delhi police in his interrogation. |
