KC Public wins Police Cricket Cup

JAMMU, November 16: KC Public School clinched the Police Youth Promotional Cricket Cup outplaying Dewan Badri Nath (DBN) School by eight wickets in the final played today at University of Jammu ground, here today.
Batting first, after winning the toss, KC Public set a target of 133 runs for the loss of two wickets in the allotted 15 overs, which, in reply, DBN could not chase and bowled out for 72 runs in 14.1 overs.
Shubam Khajuria was instrumental in KC’s big win making unbeaten 85 runs. Surya contributed 20 runs to the total. For his outstanding performance, Shubam was adjudged man of the match. He also received the man of the series title for remaining unbeaten in all three innings (36, 66 and 85) he played in the competition.
For his superb bowling show, Aman Sharma of KC Public was declared best bowler. He took nine wickets.
Meanwhile, the organizers of the event have picked up 22 boys out of 224 participants for further advance coaching. Rohan Gill of DPS School was youngest participant of the tournament.
To encourage the young cricketers, 15 boys were also given away prizes for being outstanding in batting, bowling and alrounder. Batsmen: Shubam Khajuria (KC Public School); Suryansh (D.P.S.); Lakhan (D.B.N.); Suraya (K.C.Public School); Shubam Pundeer (Nagbani). Bowlers: Partap Singh (K.C.Public School); Abhishek (G.D.Goenaka); Aman (K.C.Public School); Shantanu (D.P.S); Shivam (D.P.S.). Best Allrounders: Vivrant (JK Public School); Shoraya (D.P.S.); Harshdeep (Army School Jammu Cantt.); Swarit (Nagbani); Sampark (K.C.Public School).
In the final and prize distribution function, Chief Secretary, S S Kapoor was chief guest, who encouraged the players and gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Inspector General of J&K Police, Ashok Gupta was among other senior serving and retired police officers present.
The week-long event was organised by J&K Police under the guidance of former Ranji cricketer, Rajesh Gill.
