Release commemorative stamp on Rajouri martyrs: Kuldeep Raj | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 16: The Union government should release stamp in memory of thousands of people who laid down their lives in Rajouri during the partition of the country. A demand to this effect was made by senior BJP leader Kuldeep Raj Gupta while addressing a press conference here today. Kuldep Raj Gupta said that thousands of innocent people, including women and children lost their lives during the Kabaili (tribal) attack by Pakistan in 1947 with a motive to capture Rajouri and its adjoining areas. He said after signing document of accession by Maharaja, Indian Forces landed in Kashmir immediately but in Rajouri there was no one to defend and protect the people. It was the courage and bravery displayed by the local people that the Kabaili failed to capture our land in Rajouri as thousands of civilians laid down their lives. Kuldeep Raj Gupta said he himself has written letters to the Union government during the last three years to honour these people by releasing stamp in their memory but till date nothing has been done. On the other hand the government has declared July 13 as holiday by treating those involved in communal riots as Martyrs while it has shown least respect for thousands of patriotic people of Rajouri who laid down their lives for the nation. Commenting on removal of security pickets from some points, Gupta said that there are still reports of infiltration on the borders and such a decision is very dangerous.
