Limits of municipalities will be extended: Tara Chand | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 16: In order to develop Jammu as Greater Jammu, having fully developed urban facilities, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said that fringe areas of the city also need to be included with in the ambit of Municipal Corporation. He was chairing a high level meeting to discuss extension of the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation, here today. The Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, also participated in the meeting. The Deputy Chief Minister said that since long a strong need was felt to extend limits of JMC and include peripheral areas into its fold . He said urban character of these areas demand that they should be made part of greater Jammu so that JMC can cater to their sanitation, health and other requirements. To check encroachment on government land, Deputy Chief Minister directed for constitution of a commission under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, DDC Jammu, VC JDA, Commissioner JMC, Chief Conservator Forest and Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control as its members. The meeting was attended by MLA Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria, MLA Samba Yash Pal Kundal, MLA Raipur-Domana Bharat Bhushan, MLA Marh Sukhnandan Kumar, Principal Secretary H&UD, Suresh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner JMC S C Sawhney, VC JDA, Vinod Sharma and other senior officers of JMC, JDA and Revenue.
