Terror module busted, ReT teacher among 2 held for recruiting youth in HM ranks | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 16: A day after the arrest of HM divisional commander Abdullah Inquilabi in New Delhi, a terror module, mainly engaged in the recruitment of youth in Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) ranks, was smashed today with the arrest of two persons, including a Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teacher, at Kishtwar. The module operated from Kishtwar. Police sources said it was busted on a tip-off that one Junaid Akram Malik (17), son of Riyazul Hassan Malik of Bhatindi Morh here, had joined HM in the recent past. During his sustained questioning, Hassan, originally a resident of Sangrambata, Kishtwar, told police that Junaid was in close contact with Azhar Ali Bhat (28), son of Gulam Mohammad Bhat of Kijaie. When police started making searches for Azhar, they came to know that he had shifted his residence to Asthan Payeen, Kishtwar. Cops then raided his Asthan Payeen residence and arrested him. Azhar worked with Skyline Communications, Kishtwar, as field distributor for Airtel SIMs. He told police that he had motivated Junaid to join militancy at the behest of his close friend and HM commander Amir Kamal alias Akram, son of Mohammad Ali Kamal of Kamal Mohalla, Kishtwar. On the directions of Amir, who was active in Dacchan and Marwah areas of Kishtwar, Azhar had visited Jammu twice to convince Junaid to join HM, the sources added. Azhar's interrogation led police to the arrest of another HM sympathiser Irshad Ahmad, son of Gulam Mustafa Akhoon of Lidri, Daccham. Irshad -- a ReT teacher in Lidri government primary school -- received Junaid at the Kishtwar bus stand few days back and managed his night stay in a local hotel, besides giving him an identity card. From the hotel, Irshad next morning took Junaid to one Chacha at Pinjrari, Dacchan. Sources said Chacha later took Junaid to Amir in his hideout in the area. Sources said during Irshad's interrogation, police came to know that it was actually Azhar who ran the module as he had also motivated Amir to join HM in 2008. To bring Junaid from Bhatindi to Kishtwar, money was spent by Amir's family. Out of this money, Azhar had paid Rs 3,500 to a Scorpio driver, the sources added. Sources said a massive police search was on for Chacha and others, who had gone underground after the arrest of Azhar and Irshad. With the busting of this HM module, the outfit had suffered a major setback to revive its activities in Kishtwar, the sources added. A case in this regard stands registered under sections 363 and 120-B of RPC, and 13 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at Kishtwar police station. |
