| Pathania seeks tapping of tourism potential in Udhampur | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: Pradesh Youth Congress vice president R S Pathania has sought proper exploration of tourist potential in parts of Udhampur district.
The scenic beauty of places like Basantgarh, Dudu, Sudh Mahadev, Moungri, Latti, Pancheri are the choicest of tourist hubs of the state but lack of tourist infrastructure and administrative indolence have played spoilsport with the area, Pathania said while chairing a meeting of Youth Congress activists.
Pathania pressed for development of religious tourism in the area by seeking development of Sudh Mahadev and Gouri Kund in Chenani, Merhada Mata in Ghordi, Tarmain Devta, Chounatra Mata, Pingla Mata, Bihana Choun Mata, Pingle Mata, Narsingh Mandirs at Ramnagar and Aap Shambu Mandir at Dalsar on priority basis and constitution of shrine boards for their timely up-keep and maintenance.
He also sought for creation of a separate Tourism Development Authority at Dudu-Basantgarh as the area is under the jurisdiction of Patnitop Development Authority which is still to spend a penny over there for developing tourism. He also called for immediate finalization and starting of work on upgradation-cum-widening of Ramnagar to Basantgarh road. The multi-crore project is reliably learnt to be in final stages and work on it is being allotted to ERA. He also sought connecting of Basantgarh-Khaned road to Macchedi-Lohai/Malhar in Kathua district and start work on Dudu to Kailash road thereby create an effective road-links for the peoples of three districts separated from each other by geographical barriers.
