Clouds of terror hovering over the Trikuta Hills
Security measures beefed up at Bhawan

JAMMU | JULY 27
After the terrorist attacks on tourists in the valley which led to intensive security measures, militants are now planning to terrorize the pilgrims of Shrine Mata Shri Vaishno Devi, this intention of militants came to fore when the activites of some militants were noticed by security agencies in Trikuta Hills. This has led administration to beef up security measures and a tight vigil over the pilgrims and for those purpose special commandoes have been deployed at the Bhavan, in s hush-hush manner.
According to anonymous sources, a group of few militants was seen in Trikuta Hills and the security forces also got some transmitted messages of militants in which they revealed that they had detracked their way to Udhampur.
When a special correspondent of Early Times asked security officials bout the presence of ultras in Trikuta Hills, some admitted that search operation are going on, in and around the area but they declined to say any thing over the presence of militants.
According to sources, the search operation at hotels in Katra have also been increases for the last 2-3 days. Also the locals as well as pilgrims are questioned about their identity time to time.
According to highly placed sources, security forces have apprehensions that militants can trigger an incident in the vicinity which can lead to communal conflicts. But keeping in view, economic condition of Jammu which is already going through a depression phase, administration is not publically admitting militant’s presence, because a decline in number of pilgrims can further sabotage J&K economy.
It is pertinent to mention here that according to Ad. C.E.O of Shrine board, Punit Kumar, last year62.52 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine an this year until now 40 lakh pilgrims have came here, so keeping in view the heavy rush of pilgrims especially in a wake of Mumai , Srinagar blats and independence day.
It is noticeable that Vaishno Devi Shrine has always been on the target of terrorist’s and militants have attempted to sabotage ‘Yatra’. In ballast at Katra, a few days back eight persons were killed. Militants are arrested many a times, who visit there in the guise of pilgrims or porters. That’s why the shine has been converted into Army cantonment because security agencies don’t want to take any chance.
