Amendments in food adulteration bill sought | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU NOV 17: The Criminologists Society of J&K, an NGO has expressed concern over increasing adulteration in eatables in the state and demanded amendments in existing laws against food adulteration. Talking to media persons here today, Rameshwar Singh Jamwal, president of the society appealed the Member of Parliament to support society and move amendment bill called food adulteration bill 2010 in current Parliament aimed to amend law against food adulteration to make it strict and hard. Jamwal said, “Our Govt and legislators too seem to be clueless and disinterested for taking action against those who involved in adulteration and intoxicated vegetables, sweets” He informed that from last about six months, society has taken major initiatives in this regard and held many seminars, made several recommendations to Govt to bring requisite changes in existing laws. He further said that society has also took an initiative with a ‘Project Safe J&K’ in collaboration with J&K Police to check the drifting away of youngsters and others towards the path of criminality. Raising concern over adulteration, traffic accidents problems, Jamwal said that Prevention of Food Adulteration act, motor vehicles act needed to be amended to tackle such problems. He sought cooperation from Govt, people of Jammu and Kashmir to tackle these problem at the earliest.
