Hassan and others wanted the Government to carry out detailed exercise prior to the festivals for ensuring availability of various consumer items at reasonable rates. They also suggested to the Government to open fair price shops where variety of consumer items were on sale at reasonable prices.
However, majority of people in Pakistan had to go without carrying out customary animal sacrifices on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha because of severe shortage of goats, sheep and other livestock.
Reports said that sever al thousand cattle had been washed away in recent floods that affected 20 million people in Pakistan.
