| Govt finalises welfare scheme for widows of CPF personnel | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
New Delhi, Nov 17: The Centre has finalised a welfare scheme for widows of Central paramilitary force (CPF) personnel who lost their lives in fighting terrorists or in other combat action.
Under the scheme, if the death occurred due to active duty, then the widow is entitled for liberalised pensionary award, which is equal to last pay drawn, and provision of family pension for other cases.
An ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh for death on active duty and Rs 10 lakh for death on duty, as the case may be, is entitled to widow of the deceased CPF personnel.
Besides, five per cent vacancies were reserved for compassionate appointments for widows and next of kins of the deceased CPF personnel.
The scheme also envisages facilitating Prime Minister''s Scholarship Scheme for the wards of the widows of non-gazetted officers.
Welfare and Rehabilitation Board has been set up to attend to the grievances of the widows by the state and district welfare officer concerned.
The widows are also authorised to get goods at cheaper rates from Central Police Canteen.
The scheme is significant as a large number of CPF personnel have lost their lives in recent time fighting Maoists and militants in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeastern region
