Kissan movement flays state, centre | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kathua Nov 17: The Kissan Movement, a wing of Nature-Mankind Friendly Global Movement, held a protest under the chairmanship of district convener Hurmat Singh to assess the day today problems of farmers. Addressing the farmers, Singh criticized the state and union government for not providing proper procurement centers to facilitate farmers to provide adequate rates of the paddy crop. He said that the few centres have been opened at Changran, ali Morh and Bajwal at the time when most of the farmers had been plundered by the private players of the market after the pressure maintained over the administration and government by the Kissan movement. He regretted that the farmers have not been given the seeds of wheat and fertilizers by the department and the drought compensation is also still pending while the centre has released the first installment of the compensation as Rs 156 crore. He said that both state and union government have failed to protect the interests of the farmers and the declining of the agriculture sector. He said that a time to launch a movement to protect the entire agricultural sector by adopting cooperative and Organic Integrated Farming by expelling the practices of small holding which has become irrelevant today. On the occasion, the Kisan movement leaders Karan Singh and Rtd. District Bank Manager Daya Ram said that the Kisaan movement had already submitted memorandum of 45 demands of farmers under the leadership of ex Power Minister Babu Singh through state and union government but after the passing of two months and several protest demonstration only two demands have been accepted first drought hit cash compensation.
