STF calls on DCM, discusses development aspirations | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOV 17-The Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand in his interaction with the Special Task Force broadly outlined various issues confronting Jammu division . He asked the team that special funds are needed to cater development aspirations of the region. The four member Special Task Force had called on the Deputy Chief Minister to discuss and examine the development needs of Jammu province. The team is headed by Member Planning Commission, Dr. Abhijit Sen, and Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Dr. Najeeb Jung, Professor Economic Centre for study of Regional Development School of Social Science JNU, Dr. Amresh Dubey, Joint Secretary (Kashmir Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI Mr. K. Sakan Nandan and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal as Members. Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Ganai also accompanied the team. Identifying employment as a key issue, the Deputy Chief Minister said focused attention was needed to promote avenues beyond government sector. In the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the development needs of Jammu province. Besides, deliberations were held on key sectors of health, agriculture, education, water supply, employment, infrastructure development and measures to encourage private sector investment in the region.
