‘Khichdi’ ritual celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 18:Women have celebrated the ‘Khichidi’ ritual in a programme organized by Jammu and Kashmir Women Welfare and Development Society here today at Maharaja Hari Singh Zanana Park. The women also performed special pooja to ‘Amala’ tree in this connection. Sushila Jamwal, president of the society said that the purpose of celebrating such culture programmes is to show to the younger generation of importance of rich Dogra heritage which gives the sense of tolerance and brotherhood and to sit together. She also threw light on the ‘Amala’ which is rich source of vitamin C, Iron and other Nutrines. ‘This Month is very pious in the Hindu culture and this festival teaches us to maintain the brotherhood and to have "Khichidhi" under this tree is to preserve and cultivate the tree’, she added. The J&K Women Welfare Society and Maharani Tara Ladies Club Zanana Park’s members took pledge to celebrate all such festivals in future.
