| Terrorist camps still operative in PoK: IGP Vaid | | Two day seminar on “Peace Process in J&K” at JU | |
EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | NOV 3 “About 50-58 terrorist camps are still operative in Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and are posing threat to the peace and prosperity in the state”, said IGP Jammu, Dr. S P Vaid while delivering the presidential address during the inaugural function of a two day conference on the topic “Envisaging Peace in J&K- Research Scholars Perspective” organised by University of Jammu in collaboration with Delhi Policy Group (supported by European Union) at Jammu University here this afternoon. The seminar was inaugurated by Arun Joshi, Bureau Chief “Hindustan Times” News Paper. Dr.Vaid said that violence level has declined since the year 2005 and fight against corruption is yielding results. He stated that police is also a part of the society and every citizen should feel free to contact and cooperate with it in fight against the evils of the society. Earlier, Arun Joshi while delivering welcome address said that Kashmir is more a human problem rather than a political and territorial problem. Unless, we stop taking rigid stands and learn to concede, we will never find a lasting solution to the Kashmir problem. In the two sessions, seven research scholars presented papers on different topics. The sessions were chaired by Prof. Zahur-ud-din and Prof. D Parthasarthy from IIT Mumbai. Prof. Kulwant Kour, Dean Social Sciences Deptt and Dr. Ranjit Kalra were also present during the seminar.
