| Mangat inaugurates twin conference on surgery at GMC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | NOV 3 Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Health and Medical Education today formally inaugurated the four day long twin conference on “Minimal Access Surgery and Plastic Surgery”, which begun on Nov 2 at GMC Jammu. The conference is being organised by the Department of Surgery, GMC. Speaking on the occasion, Minister appreciated the management of GMC for organizing such a conference and termed it as a step further towards the constant endeavor of improving the health services in J&K state. He further said that government is trying to create more health infrastructure in the state to serve the ailing community. Earlier, Dr. Mumtaz Goni, Principal GMC welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed about the aspects of holding the twin conference. Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma also lighted the traditional lamp to formally inaugurate the conference. The conference was started yesterday with the Laproscopy Workshop in which 600 surgeons from different parts of the country participated and performed various Laproscopic procedures including Hernia, Gall bladder, Appendix, Stomach, Intestinal and Uterus removal. Dr. D S Pathania, Organising Secretary said that the advent of minimal invasive surgery has revolutionized the field of surgery which provides great service to the patients by minimal invasion and maximum benefit like minimum blood loss, less pain, early discharge from the hospital, less cost and early return to work.
