J&K bags third place in Junior Korfball | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, November 18: Last year’s silver medalist, Jammu and Kashmir team has won third place in the just concluded 18th Junior National Korfball Championship at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh. In hard-liner, J&K defeated host Himachal 12-10 to secured third place. From J&K, Radhika, Rashmi, Mohit, Harish and Devanshu played well throughout the competition. Haryana bagged first place beating Chattisgarh 15-12 in the title clash. “In the semi-finals, J&K were leading 6-3 up to half time. But in second half Chattisgarh played better game with coordination and combination and levelled the score at 8-8. However, in the golden goal time, J&K missed the opportunity of first attack and later Chattisgarh scored in second attack to make it a win,” general secretary of J&K Korfball Association, Manjit Singh told SAN on team’s turn. In the quarterfinals, J&K beat Manipur by 08-03. Earlier, place in pool-D, J&K beat Tamil Naidu (19-05), Pondicherry (22-06), Andhra Pradesh (14-10), Madhya Pradesh (18-08) and Karnataka (24-13) to top the group with all wins.
