BJP clings to Accession issue with call for state wide agitation
Will Omar ever revert to what he stated in Assembly.........?

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 18: Nearly 10 days after its call for Jammu bandh on the first day of reopening of Durbar offices here, BJP has now come out with its fresh schedule of what it intends to 'followed' as state -wide agitation against the utterances of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the issue of Accession besides continuation of discrimination with Jammu. J&K National Panthers Party, which remained 'co partner' in raising loud cry and noise for at least two days outside the Assembly last month, has now chosen complete silence over the issue.
In a public rally to be attended by some national leaders on November 20 , the local unit of BJP is going to announce the programme in connection with launching of the agitation across the state. So far as the convening of a political rally is concerned, it may augur well for 'activating' the workers and cadres who have not seen any activity of the sort for along time now. Moreover, the presence of some national leaders will certainly enthuse the workers and local leadership as well. But one wonders why the party leadership in the state has chosen to cling to only these two issues which were raked up only last week in order to make the impact of Jammu bandh loud and assertive on political lines.
Accession issue is for sure one which BJP as an opposition party would oppose, its stated stand being that J&K is integral part of India and that Accession of state is final for ever, there being no dispute on the question of merger or no merger, something which Chief Minister Omar has contested and questioned. It is a different matter that party MLAs, no less than 11 in number coudl not actually gather what Omar said on the floor of House on the day he made these utterances. What 'perforamance' to express its anger and resentment followed during next two days along with the MLAs of Panthers Party is too known and fresh to be described again.
It was certainly a big issue BJP got conveniently to be raised with utmost clamour and pandemonium for some days. The opposition was taken well by die hard supporters of the party and its affliated units which also got handy issue around which few days were utilised in making harsh statements. So far so good. The local leadership trumpteted it to the hilt, as loud as possible and came down heavily on Omar ABdullah for days together. The national leadership, surprisingly did not give much significance nor did it rake up even as UPA and COngress leaders in particular almost 'approved' what Omar said about state's Accession with country.
It has been over a month now when the Chief Minister made utterances on the issue. Except Jammu city and some outer peripheral areas, bandh did not evoke much response in other districts, not even in the constituencies which party represents on the issue of Accession. In fact Omar has said many more things on equally controversial lines after his statement of Accession in the Assembly, which party has prefered not rake up as vocieferoulsy as vocal they continue to be on this one. The moot question remains while the party leadership has decided to launch state wide agitation over this isuse, are there any serious listeners or takers, even in Jammu region for responding to its long drawn programme. As for BJP's demand that it will not rest or stop raking it until the CM comes out with 'categorical statement that J&K is an integral part of India', one only wonders if that will ever happen. BJP too knows it . Then why cling to this issue alone.....?
