| Girl among 2 killed, 2 hurt in road mishaps | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 19: Two persons, including a motorcyclist and a girl, were killed and two others wounded critically in separate road accidents here today.
Police sources said a motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider was wounded seriously when their mobike was hit by a speeding truck on the national highway at Sapwal in Samba, about 35 km from here.
Kaka Ram, son of Mohan Lal of Gho Manasan, and his brother-in-law Charanjit, son of Gian Chand of Narwal, were going on their motorcycle (JK02E/1432) when a speeding truck (PB02K/9587) hit them near Sapwal, resulting in serious injuries to both of them, the sources added.
Both were admitted to hospital where Kaka was pronounced brought dead by doctors. Following deterioration in his condition, Charanjit was later referred to GMC hospital here.
The truck was seized and the driver was arrested by police. A case in this connection stands registered at the concerned police station. In another incident, Softlab employees Alya Bashir, daughter of Bashir Ahmad, and Rajesh Sharma, son of Lakshman Dass Sharma, both residents of Janipura, were wounded on being hit by a bus at Gandhi Nagar.
While Alya succumbed to her injuries at the GMC hospital, the condition of Rajesh was stated to be serious. The Gandhinagar police had registered a case in this connection. |
