| R S Pura Town a matter of concern | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER RS PURA | NOV 3 The residents of R S Pura, one of the famous tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir State situated near the international border and famous for its ‘Basmati Rice’ are facing number of inconveniences in their day to day work. Before partition of the country it was an important trade centre. But now the place has been neglected by the authorities as for as development is concerned. The roads n and around the town are in a dilapidated condition, it becomes difficult to work on these roads during rainy season. The drains and nallahs are always found full with silt and garbage’s etc and emit foul smell street lights in the town are no functioning and till date no replacement has been made by the concerned authorities. Over head HT wires have worn out and pore a serious threat to human lives and cattle lives. The condition of general bus stand in the town has also from bad to worst. There is no shed for passengers. During rainy season and summer months it becomes difficult for passenger to board by the bus, as there are number of ditches, which are full of dirty water and breeding ground for mosquitoes due to water logging. No repair works of the bus stand have been executed during the last ten years or so. A number of times people of the area have met the concerned authorities but till date no action had been taken for the improvement of the bus stand. It is not understood where the funds sanctioned for development of the area are ciphered. The main road from Satwari to Suchetgarh needs immediate attention of the authorities. The work on converting the road in a four lane is very slow vehicular traffic on this road ahs increased mani-fold, and is prone to road accidents due to its dilapidated condition. There is a strong resentment against the municipal authorities of the area who pay little attention and are least worry about the cleanliness and development of the area. Large scale encroachment on both sides of the main road has been resorted to by the shopkeepers which cause inconvenience to the pedestrians. This is being done by greasing the palms of the officials of the R S Pura municipality and other revenue authorities. People of the area are demanding that the authorities should take immediate steps for over all development of the area.
