| INC-MC Coordination committee to meet soon :Soz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMUnov 20: Former Union minister and President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Prof. Saifuddin today said that INC – NC Coordination Committee would meet soon to take a decision on holding Panchayat elections in the State. He said that his personal opinion was that the Panchayat elections should be held on non – party basis.
Soz also said that the functioning of Panchayats would be modernized and empowered by weaving the 73rd and 74th Amendments of the constitution of India into the J&K Panchayat Act.
He was addressing a Congress rally at Party Headquarters at Srinagar today. The rally was also addressed by G.R. Kar, ex. President PCC, Shoaib Lone, President J&K Youth Congress, Amrinder Singh Brar, general secretary, All India Youth Congress, Vice President of Pradesh Congress Gulam Nabi Monga, Bashir Ahmad Magrey(MLC) Indu Pawar President Mahila Congress Khem Lata Wakhloo, G. N. Mir Lasjan General Secretaries, Master Mohd Maqbool, Farooq Andrabi, Mohd Amin Khan, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Aftab Ahmad Beigh, Shiekh Ishfaq and others
On this occasion, Prof.Soz urged the gathering to join his movement to make Congress party an effective instrument of service to the people.
