DCM sets 15-days deadline for rehab at Rakh-e-Arth | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Nov 20- Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today gave a 15 day deadline for assessment of 395 structures along Dole Demb area and their subsequent rehabilitation at Rakh-e-Arth which will open 3 square kilometers area and increase Dal lake water expense from 18 sq. km to 21 sq. km. He was addressing a high level review meeting of line departments of LAWDA, SDA and Housing Board here today. Vice Chairman LAWDA, Irfan Yaseen, Vice Chairman SDA, Mr. Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Ahmad Renzu Shah, Special Secretaries Housing, Showkat Ahmad Mir and Ghulam Hassan Mir attended besides others. During the discourse of the meeting, it was informed that various conservation measures have been taken by LAWDA which include cleaning og Pokhribal area of Nigin Lake by removing reeds, radhs, landmasses and encroachments. The meeting was also informed that five pumping stations have been commissioned and made operational by the authority at a cost of Rs. 79 lakh and 25 km of trunk sewers have been completed at a cost of Rs 20.84 crore so far. Likewise, 57 km of lateral and secondary sewers have been completed out of 77 km at a cost of Rs. 40.53 crore. The authority has augmented its machinery facilities by procuring two water master classic and three truxor machines at a cost of Rs. 19 crore from Finland and Switzerland for Dal cleaning operation. The Authority has so far spent Rs 161.24 crore on sewerage treatment solid waste, hydraulic works, restoration and development and catchment management works, the meeting was informed.
