Pooja Express halted at Kathua after 3 passengers claim there was bomb in train | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 20: Panic gripped Pooja Express and all the passengers got down at Kathua after three persons, who had a fight with army in a general bogie, claimed they had planted a bomb in the train. Five persons had a verbal duel with army jawans over some issue in general bogie of Pooja Express, which left the Jammu railway station in the evening. Police sources said when they continued teasing the jawans, they latter beat them up. While two of them got down near Samba, the three continued to travel in the general bogie. Sources said when the threesome said they had planted a bomb in the train, the jawans caught hold of them and gave them a severe beating. They were then taken to S-9 reserved compartment where some passengers also beat them up, the sources added. The train was stopped at Kathua at about 7.30 pm and the three persons were handed over to railway police. Sources identified them as Farooq, son of Ali Ahmad of Nepal, Abu Alam, son of Zakir Ahmad, and Salim, son of Ali Ahmad, both residents of Burma. They carried bags with them which did not contain explosives or anything incriminating, the sources added. Their sustained interrogation was on, SSP, Kathua, Gareeb Dass said. Dass said the general coach, S-9 compartment and other coaches were thoroughly searched by police, but no bomb was found. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service. The train had not been given clearance to leave the Kathua railway station for its onward journey at the time of going to the print.Other details were awaited. |
