Free medical camp held at Bhairav temple

JAMMU, Nov 21: A free medical camp was held at the pracheen Bhairav temple at Bhairav temple bazar, Chowk Chabutra, here today on the eve of Kaal Bhairav Ashtami which falls on November 28.
A 'prabhat pheri' was also taken out before the holding of the camp by temple priest Romil Sharma. Several devotees of Bhagwan Bhairav participated in it and chanted slogans and sang bhajans in praise of the Almighty.
The prabhat pheri started from the Bhairav temple, and after passing through the main city bazars and paying obeisance at Ranbireshwar temple and all other major city temples, it culminated at the Bhairav temple.
The medical camp, which started at 10 am, continued up to 5 pm.
Jointly organised by Shree Bhairav Mandir Committee and health department, it was inaugurated by MLA Ashok Khajuria in the presence of senior BJP leader Vishvinder Dev Sharma, prominent citizens and residents of the area.
Free medical treatment was provided on the occasion by Dr Rakesh Sharma, orthopaedician and A O Fellow, Germany, Dr Reema Sharma (gyanecologist), Dr Shailender (ENT specialist), Dr Darshan (physician) and Dr Urvashi Verma (physiotherapist).
The rush of patients was witnessed right from the morning. Patients, especially elderly men and women, came for the treatment of various ailments.
While Dr Rakesh emphasised the need for doing exercise to keep joint pains and other related problems away, Dr Reema advised the women patients to immediately consult a lady doctor whenever they felt a problem related to gyane.
Dr Shailender and Dr Darshan listened to the patients' problems coolly and gave them valuable information about different ailments.
They said if people took preventive steps, several diseases could be kept away.
Free medicines were distributed among the patients on the occasion.
These were made available by chief medical officer (CMO), Dr Baldev Sharma on the directions of health minister Sham Lal Sharma.
Sharma, who was in Delhi in connection with a meeting, told the temple committee members on phone that in future also, his department would make them available free medicines for holding a medical camp for the needy people.
It is pertinent to mention here that a 'vishal bhandara' would be organised at Bhairav temple on November 29 when the Chowk Chabutra-Panjtirthi police post road stretch would be tastefully decorated. Thousands of people, irrespective of their caste, colour and creed, participate in the bhandara every year.
