No policy for agricultural technocrats lambasted | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri, Nov 21: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted the ruling coalition government for its alleged failure to accommodate and formulate a policy for the agricultural technocrats. Talking to the media persons here, senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan said that the present coalition has throughout its tenure has disappointed youth. “On one hand it promised to provide jobs for even middle class, which though never happened, while on the other even the degree holders with higher qualifications are rendered jobless resulting in an increase in the number of unemployed youth,” he charged. The PDP leader said the youth engaged under Rehbar-e-Taleem are made permanent after five years on fulfilling the required criteria. “But the 2800 odd Rehbar-e-Zarat candidates have not been accommodated in their concerned department despite having fulfilled the required criteria. Moreover, no recruitment has been done in Agriculture Department since 1996,” Khan said, adding that the government is just trying to keep its hands off the unemployed by giving a stipend of mere Rs 3000 p.m which is no more than alms to hush up the protesting youth. He also criticised the state for its failure to utilize the immense human resource in the state thereby resulting in the anxiety and frustration among the youth. “Not only the number of unemployed is increasing, their age limits are also exceeding eligibility criteria leading to disappointment and dissatisfaction among youth,” he maintained. Warning the coalition Government to take immediate required action to resolve the issue by regularising the Rehbar-e Zarat candidates, Khan said, “The PDP activists would come to streets and sit on hunger strikes if the demands of agricultural technocrats are not met. We will be supporting the rally to be taken out by the agricultural technocrats tomorrow in Rajouri town.”
