| ‘Reject PDP’s Self-Rule- formula | | SP disappointed over decimal performance of coalition government | |
JAMMU NOV-03- Expressing disappointment over the decimal performance of the coalition government in the past four years in general and during the one year rule of CM Ghulam Nabi Azad in particular, the Samajwadi Party has said that the Common Minimum Programme, on which the partners of the coalition government had agreed, has remained by and large flopped. Reviewing the performance of the coalition government at a meeting held under the chairmanship of its President Sheikh Abdul Rehman, the party alleged that despite announcement the ‘De-limitation Commission of Assembly segments’ and the Financial Commission, have not been constituted so far as a result of which the disparities continue to exist at regional and sub-regional level adding that discrimination with Jammu region as also imbalance in the services and developmental sectors continue unabatedly. The Party also expressed its dissatisfaction for not granting adequate powers and requisite staff to the State Accountability Commission adding that the Commission for Women continues to remain headless for the last couple of years. On unemployment front, the Party alleged that nothing concrete has been done to provide employment to the educated youth nor any steps were taken to redress the grievances of the refugees. Making frontal attack on Mufti Mohammed Sayed for pursuing the formula of ‘Self-Rule’ demilitarization and joint management, the meeting felt that there was nothing new in it but only to carry forward the formula of Pak President Gen Musharif and also objected Mufti’s demand advocating for three Assemblies in his so-called self rule and described it as made with an eye on vote bank. The party questioned as to why this demand was not made when he (Mufti) was the Union Home Minister. According to a party hand out the meeting also questioned the UPA Government at the Centre as to how it allowed the PDP Partron to attend the UNO session to speak on his so-called ‘Self-Rule’ formula and demanded that the people should be taken into confidence before going further in this regard.
