| SDP leader meets Guv, seeks white paper on Kashmir situation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU NOV 21: Socialistic Democratic Party President Dr Darakhshan Andrabi and SDP General Secretary Ajay Kumar met Governor N N Vohra at Rajbhavan and presented a memorandum to the Governor.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi requested the Governor to emphasize on the state government to issue a white paper on the law and order situation in the state which has made the life of the common man a hell over there in Kashmir valley. She demanded that an Enquiry Commission should be constituted to identify the elements that with a substantial financial back are hell bent upon disrupting the normal peaceful life in valley. She said consecutively for the last three years now on one pretext or the other, these elements have succeeded in derailing the normal life in Kashmir.
Dr Andrabi asked that the Commission should be headed by a sitting judge and should be asked to submit its report within two months. Government should apprise the people of the state about the situation and the steps taken by the government to curb such elements and the future plans also.
Dr Darakhshan Andrabi also requested the Governor to issue orders to make it mandatory to use the term “J&K Issue” in place of “Kashmir issue” in all government statements and communications while referring to the issues and matters related to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Dr Darakhshan assured the Governor that the state Government should be guided to have similar treatment to all regions while dealing with the sensitive issues of the state.
