Confederation supports ALSJAC' s demand of CU in Ladakh

Jammu; 21: Terming the demand of All Ladakh Students Joint Action Committee (ALSJAC) to open Central University in Ladakh as genuine and justified, the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes of J&K under the banner of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations extended their support to project this demand during the forthcoming Parliament gherao rally to be held on November 29, in New Delhi.
In a joint press conference organized by All Ladakh Students Joint Action Committee and All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organizations, R.K. Kalsotra, State President of Confederation said that the tribals of Ladakh face difficulty in getting education and have to migrate out of their home places in search of putting their children in higher education institutions. He appealed the State Government to immediately move the proposal of setting up of the Central University in Ladakh similar to the pattern of Central University of Jammu and Kashmir Provinces.
Kalsotra said that along with the other demands like reservation of private sector, inclusion of all the 47 departments in the Reservation bill which otherwise have been dropped from the purview of reservation, clearance of backlog, it is very right time to also incorporate the demand of Central University for Ladakh in their national agenda and Confederation would also submit this to the Central Govt.
Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, State Secretary of Confederation while talking to media persons said that confederation today itself has owned the demand Central University in favour of Ladakh besides Kashmir and Jammu Central Universities which according to him is highly required due to geographical disadvantageous location of this region. He further appealed the students of Ladakh in general and the public in particular to be united till this demand is not acceded and the tribals of Ladakh and Confederation have pledged to jointly fight for the cause.
Shakeel Ahmed President, ALSJAC said that more than twenty thousands students have been suffering due to lack of a proper education system as evident from the fact that Ladakh region have not even B.Ed. College.
Tsering Norphel, General Secretary, ALSJAC said that they will not at all tolerate such discrimination any more and will not stop till their demand of Central University in Ladakh is not fulfilled.
Dr. Zabeer Ahmed State Secretary Confederation, Shakeel Ahmed President, ALSJAC, Tsering Norphel, General Secretary, ALSJAC and Dorjey Anchuk, President, ALSAJ were also present.
