Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Nov 21 A mammoth gathering of Sikh Sangat assembled at Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar on the 542th Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev in which thousands of devotees from all parts of state participated. Ragi Jatha Bhai Bakshish Singh, Bhai Prem Singh Bandu Delhi wale and local Ragi Jatha’s recited the Shabad Kirtan. Preacher Bibi Harjinder Kour, ex-Mayor, Chandigarh and Bhai Rabinder Singh Ji addressed the sangat and threw light on the life and preaching's of Sri Guru Nanak Dev . The Sikh Sangat also adopted various resolutions highlighting the discrimination meted out to the Sikhs living in the State. In the resolution, they demanded the Sikhs be given reservation quota of at least 2 per cent in all the educational/ technical institutions as also in employment on the pattern of the reservation given to the minorities of the other communities in other states of the country. They also demanded that those Sikh devotees desirous of visiting Pakistan for pilgrimage of holy Gurdwara's be granted visas by Pak Govt. However, now the Pak. Govt. has refused a visa to such persons whose birth place is in POK which they termed unjustified and demanded the same be sorted out at diplomatic level Other demanded included establishing of the minority commission in the state , inclusion of Punjabi language in schools/colleges. They said thoug government has approved the Punjabi language in schools/colleges but yet to appoint teachers for the same. State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board Chairman TS Wazir (MLC) and All the members of Distt Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu were present . Later, Guru-ka-langar was also served among the devotees
