| Rural Sports Club serves mentally challenged | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 21: As part of nation building programme, J&K Rural Sports Club, a Non Government Organisation (NGO) observed 542nd birthday anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev as `message of universal brotherhood’ for strengthening communal harmony, peace and prosperity in the society as a whole.
To spread the message of Guruji at the grass root level, Club organised a special function at home for mentally retarded and physically handicapped at Channi Rama. Besides serving breakfast to these physically challenged children, sweets were also distributed by the members of the Club and other distinguished gathering.
Senior Congress leader, Surinder Singh Channi was special invitee. Prominent among others present were Pritam Singh (DFO), Bhupinder Singh Bholla, Repudaman Singh Godly, Ramandeep Singh Satkar and Harisnser Singh.
The true service to God is service to mind kind. Acting on these lines, we organised a get together with the mentally challenged children at home for mentally retarded and physical challenged,” president of the Club, Narinder Singh told SAN.
Later, in a function held at Dera Sahib Gurdwara Rail Head Complex and Gurdwara Singh Sahib Bathindi Jammu, Surinder Singh Channi congratulated the people of the state on the eve of Gurpurab.
In the meantime, Rural Sports Club honoured SS Channi, Kirtani Jatha, president Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Bhupinder Singh Bholla by the President J&K Rural Sports Club, Narinder Singh by presenting Siropahs (order of robe) to them.
